By browsing detropick.com ("DetroPick," "the site"), submitting our contact form, or subscribing to our newsletter, you're agreeing to the terms below. If any part of this doesn't work for you, the straightforward option is to not use the site — we'd rather be upfront about that than bury it in fine print.
What DetroPick is
DetroPick is an independent editorial publication covering skincare products — the kind you're likely to see mid-scroll on TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube. We research ingredient lists, weigh verified buyer feedback, and publish pros, cons, and a plain verdict for each product we cover. We are not a retailer: we don't process orders, hold inventory, or handle payments for any product featured on the site.
Not medical advice
Nothing on DetroPick is medical, dermatological, or professional skincare advice, and none of our content is a substitute for consulting a licensed dermatologist or physician about your skin. Ingredients that suit one person's skin can irritate another's. If you have a known allergy, a diagnosed skin condition, or you're pregnant or nursing, talk to a healthcare provider before trying a new product — including anything reviewed favorably here.
Our affiliate relationship
DetroPick is a participant in the Amazon Associates program, an affiliate advertising program designed to let sites earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon. When you click a "View on Amazon" link (or similar) and go on to make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you. Prices, availability, and product details shown on Amazon are controlled entirely by Amazon and the seller, not by us, and can change after we publish a review. Any purchase you make through an affiliate link is a transaction between you and that retailer, governed by their own terms — not ours.
Editorial independence
Which products we choose to review, and how we rate them, is not for sale. Our affiliate earnings don't buy a better verdict, and a brand paying for a promotional banner on the site (see our Privacy Policy for how those work) doesn't influence the separate, editorial review of that brand's products. Where we do have a financial relationship with a product mentioned on the site, our footer affiliate disclosure covers it.
Acceptable use
You agree to use DetroPick the way it's intended: to read reviews, and to reach out through the contact form or newsletter sign-up as a real person with a genuine message. Specifically, you agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or abusive content through our contact form or any other input on the site.
- Attempt to probe, scan, or bypass the site's security, or to overload our public endpoints (including automated or scripted submissions).
- Scrape, copy, or republish our review content at scale without permission.
- Use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it for other visitors.
Intellectual property
The review text, site design, and DetroPick name and logo are our property (or used under license) and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You're welcome to link to our reviews or quote a short excerpt with attribution back to us; reproducing a review in full, or presenting our content as your own, isn't permitted without our written consent. Product names, brand logos, and images referenced in our reviews remain the property of their respective owners.
Third-party sites & links
DetroPick links out to third-party sites — Amazon most often, but also brand pages and social platforms. We don't control those sites, and linking to one isn't an endorsement of everything on it. Once you leave DetroPick, that site's own terms and privacy practices apply, and we're not responsible for what happens there.
Disclaimers
We aim for our reviews to be accurate and genuinely useful, but skincare formulas, pricing, and availability change, and individual results always vary by skin type. DetroPick is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including that a product we've reviewed favorably will work the same way for you, or that the site itself will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, DetroPick and the people behind it aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, your reliance on a review, or your purchase of a product through one of our links — including any reaction, dissatisfaction, or loss connected to a product itself, which is a matter between you and the retailer or manufacturer.
Changes to the site or these terms
We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of DetroPick at any time, and we may revise these terms as the site evolves. The "Effective date" above reflects the latest revision. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where DetroPick operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, to the extent applicable to an independent publisher of this kind.
