Skincare advice built for how you actually shop now

You don't discover skincare in a magazine anymore — you discover it mid-scroll. DetroPick exists to close the gap between "I saw that on my feed" and "I know if it's actually worth buying."

Our story

Why we built DetroPick

DetroPick started as a simple frustration: short-form video is where most people actually discover skincare products now, but it's a terrible place to research them. A 30-second clip can't tell you whether a serum will break you out, whether the "dupe" is really equivalent, or whether the brand behind the viral claim has any research to back it up.

So we built a place to land after the video ends — a searchable, honest library of reviews covering the products people are actually asking about, written in plain language, with the pros and the cons both given equal space.

Independent by design

We choose what to review based on what people are searching for — never based on who pays the most.

Research-based

Every review considers the actual ingredient list, not just the marketing claim on the label.

Pros and cons, always

If a product isn't right for everyone, we say so — including who should probably skip it.

Fast to find

Our search is built for one job: getting you from "what was that product?" to the answer in seconds.

How we review

Our process

  1. 1

We track what people are searching for

Products trending across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube shape our review queue.

  2. 2

    We study the formula

Every review starts with the actual ingredient list — what it does, and who it suits.

  3. 3

    We weigh the real-world feedback

We cross-reference verified buyer feedback against the claims, not just the star average.

  4. 4

    We publish the whole picture

Pros, cons, who it's for, who should avoid it — every review ships with both sides.
